Sky Technologies announce new enterprise mobility deployment options for customers wishing to exploit the benefits of mobile computing. As the wave of mobile apps and 24/7 connectivity take hold of the consumer markets, enterprise customers have waited patiently for the Tsunami to hit the shores of corporate computing.
Complexity, security, device support, ad-hoc data systems have all been reasons why IT managers do not allow users to access their corporate data while on the go.
Sky Technologies, known for their innovation over the last 12 years in the enterprise mobility space has broken through another set of “can’t do it” barriers.
Sky now offer customers two deployment options, On-Premise or In-Cloud.
On-Premise is the traditional method of deploying Sky’s MEAP, Gateway and Application software which resides inside the customers own infrastructure. The MEAP can be implemented either as a standalone “remote” server or in the case of SAP customers, locally inside the ERP or CRM environments. This option generally suits larger enterprise companies that have skilled resources and able to manage their own mobile environments.
In-Cloud is Mobility-as-a-Service (MAAS) where smaller customers who want all the benefits of enterprise mobile computing but cannot afford or do not wish to purchase and deploy a mobility solution in-house.
The Sky Cloud is responsible for the application and data all the way from the SkyMobile App-Server on the device to the integration “touch points” on the customer back end systems. Customers may utilize either the standard Sky business suite functionality, or opt for their own customized private application. Payment is based on a per-user / capacity rental model and there are options to interface with the telecommunication providers billing service i.e. single bill. Portals are provided by Sky for Customers to monitor their own connections, applications and interfaces.
- There are obvious advantages to the cloud model such as -
- The mobile solution is totally managed and maintained by Sk
- Lower cost of ownership – no requirement for in-house development skills Eradicates the need up-front payments
- Design/Test/Deployment all done elsewhere – no impact on resources
Subscription models with ramp up as users/devices are linked up - The same security, performance and availability as if you were running on-premise
